Doreen Landrum, PhD, NBCCH
Doreen Landrum, PhD, NBCCH, uses hypnotherapy as an adjunct to regular psychotherapy. So often we are our own worst enemies and we talk ourselves out of things before we even begin. By using hypnotherapy to bring about a deep state of relaxation, Dr. Landrum helps individuals identify and clarify their goals, without the critical conscious thought process that can be so defeating. By firming up our beliefs in ourselves and our goals, our minds and bodies naturally work towards fulfilling these goals.
Dr. Landrum earned her doctorate from the University of Texas at Austin. She is a fully licensed psychologist in the state of Texas and is a National Board Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist. Her training focused on both inpatient and outpatient treatment, providing experience in dealing with diverse issues and levels of severity. She has pursued a variety of supplementary training under some of the leading experts in the field, and her knowledge of and respect for therapeutic development brings warmth and comfort to a process that may otherwise feel intimidating.
Currently Dr. Landrum is the Director of Austin Psychiatric Consultants. She has taught at both undergraduate and graduate levels and has presented workshops for helping children cope with divorce.
Dr. Landrum believes that many of the problems individuals face can be worked through by gaining increased insight and knowledge about oneself. She believes that individuals heal themselves and often just need an objective, caring presence to help them take the first step. Dr. Landrum specializes in therapy, psychological assessment, and hypnosis and frequently works with psychiatrists, primary care physicians, OB/GYNs, and other physicians in the collaborative treatment of patients. Each of the services listed are regular facets of Dr. Landrum’s work.
J. Todd Riddle, NCC, LPC, NBCCH
Todd Riddle, NCC, LPC, NBCCH strongly believes in the inner strength that every individual possesses. He uses hypnotherapy in combination with traditional psychotherapy to bring this strength to the forefront, so that people can realize their goals more quickly and easily. Bridging the gap between just thinking about something and believing it helps thoughts and behavior become more automatic and natural.
Mr. Riddle holds Masters degrees in Counseling from St. Mary’s University, and in Christian Education from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, as well as a degree in human behavior from Concordia University. He is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a National Board Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist. Mr. Riddle’s counseling career began with his work as a youth and young adult minister, developing and implementing ministry programs, providing pastoral counseling to individuals, couples, and families, and leading domestic and global mission trips. After shifting to clinical therapy, Mr. Riddle’s focus has been on the effect of trauma on academic performance. His work with the Dallas Independent School District allowed him to combine clinical, in-school, and at-home services, working with behavior and adjustment issues, AD/HD, depression, anxiety, anger management, and grief work. Mr. Riddle’s ability to employ creativity, insight, and humor in a safe and supportive environment is invaluable in helping find solutions to life’s difficult questions and issues.
Mr. Riddle believes emotional issues are rarely as sudden as they appear, but rather occur in some form or fashion throughout a longer span of time. Mr. Riddle’s familiarity with lifespan development allows him to view emotional issues through this lens, pinpointing the hiccups in psychosocial development that often surface much later in life. When defenses that have worked for years suddenly stop working, Mr. Riddle helps people develop new, healthier ways to cope with stress, restoring stability and putting them back on track toward healthy development.
